Staying Human in a World of AI

We live in a time where artificial intelligence (AI) has become the new normal. How can we embrace this evolving technology without losing who we are as humans. Is there a way to have AI without losing our humanity or are they mutually exclusive? Maintaining who we are as humans is more important now than ever. Our stories deserve the uniqueness that only you can bring. Even though AI can be a helpful tool it cannot replace the touch of a human that make our stories worth sharing.

The Digital Dance: Finding Balance

What is your relationship with AI? Understanding this relationship is important to finding a balance in your life with using AI. We have progressed so far that saying you are going to avoid AI all together isn’t even an option. It is everywhere we go. Whether that be a help desk assistant, writing tools, or your own personal assistant. There is a touch of AI in every part of the world we live in now, and we can either embrace it or fall behind.

The next step after understanding what your relationship with AI is, is to analyze where it enhances your life and where it completely replaces human connection. Have you ever had a question about a service you use and when you go to find the answers and a chat with AI is the only option for customer support? How many times does the AI bot actually help answer your question. It’s useless unless it’s one of the FAQ that the AI has been told how to answer. This causes more frustration than having to wait a few minutes for a real human. This is a great example of how human connection out weighs the customer experience with AI.

As creatives we need to set boundaries on how we utilize AI. We don’t want to take the easy route and let AI create for us. However this doesn’t mean we have to avoid it completely. I use AI to help edit my writings and to better get my point across. Sometimes I can’t think of the right ways to communicate something and AI can help me refine my thoughts. This is a balance that can be difficult to walk in but is very important in staying human in your art.

Nurturing Human Connection

When building a loyal fan base you can’t underestimate the power of face to face interactions. An example of this is when COVID hit the world and we couldn’t come together for live music and people longed to go back to concerts. When the world opened up people flood back to concert halls to see their favorite bands live. AI can’t replace that and the human creative is needed to make these concerts what they are to attract people to come watch.

When building relationships in a digital space, remember that the person on the other side of the screen is a fellow human being—not just another client or sale, but someone with their own unique story. Take time to find personal connections and ways to relate to them. This genuine approach will help you build trust and respect with the people you want to share your art with.

Embracing Our Humanity

Everything we do doesn’t have to perfected. We are human and part of the beauty of being a human is our imperfections. If we can be vulnerable with others about what we are struggling with then we open ourselves up to people and their willingness to listen to our story. Empathy is an advantage we have over AI — the way we can relate to others through shared experiences. This is our superpower of AI. If we embrace this it can help us build our boundaries around when and how we use AI in or with our art.

Creating Safe Spaces in the Digital Age

My goal with Roses as Humans is to create a space where we can collaborate and create things in a safe space that allows us to grow as an artist. We want to foster a place where our real stories can blossom and we won’t be ashamed of who we are. We don’t want to embrace our flaws but learn to grow from them. We shouldn’t be afraid of change or growth. Those are both healthy parts of living life. The digital age can make this much easier but at the same time can be a much more dangerous task. It is much easier now than ever to get our feelings hurt and not feel safe enough to share our story. We want to put an end to that kind of thinking because your story is so important to this world.

Moving Forward Together

As we navigate this AI-enhanced world, our focus remains on empowering creative voices and building meaningful connections. The future isn't about choosing between technology and humanity - it's about finding ways to let them complement each other while staying true to our authentic selves.

Remember: Technology may be advancing, but the heart of human experience - our stories, our connections, our creativity - remains irreplaceable.

We won’t be replaced because the human connection is what speaks loudest to other humans. How to stay human in a world of AI
